The Gallery of Caribbean Art is pleased to present 'Hombres' an exhibition featuring artists Denzil Mann, Neville Legall, Chris Richards and Clairmonte Mapp.  The exhibition opens on December 9th 2017, from 5-8pm and will run until January 10th, 2018.

Barbados Polo Season 2018


Date: January  4, 7, 13, 19, 28, 30th 2017

Polo is fast becoming one of the most popular sporting events in Barbados. It is great place enjoy the exciting atmosphere of polo played by local as well as visiting clubs from overseas.  All are welcome and bring the kids - its fun for the entire family!!

First Racing Season 2018


Date: January 6th 2017

Visit the historic Garrison Savannah for an exciting day of thoroughbred horse racing! This Sport of Kings has taken place at this location for over 150 years. Races are generally run on Saturdays during every month of the year, however, there are other race days on the calendar on some bank holidays.

There are two (2) days of racing in January 2018 - Sat. 6th and Mon. 22nd (Bank Holiday - Errol Barrow Day (observed). There are usually nine races per day, starting around 12:30pm or later, depending on the time of year, and finishing around 6:00pm. Entrance fees to the various stands range from BB$10.00 to BB$100.00 for the day. Special (higher) prices apply to Gold Cup Day in early March. Admission is free to the grounds.

BHS Open Garden Programme 2018


Date: January 7th, 21st 2017

The Open Garden Programme is presented by the Barbados Horticultural Society (BHS) on Sundays during the months of January to March each year. The general public is invited to view the stunning gardens of private home owners and tour them at their own leisure. Knowledgeable BHS members are always on hand to answer any questions and tea and refreshments are on sale.

Entrance Fees: BHS Members BB$10, Non-members BB$15, children are free.
January 2018 Open Gardens are as follows:
7th - Sea Shells, Gibbes, St. Peter.  Home of Mr. & Mrs. Dan Tynan.
21st - Edencrest, Lot 1, Kendal, St. John.  Home of Professor Clive & Mrs. Julie Landis.

Gardens are open from 2-6pm.

BNT Hike Barbados Programme 2018


Date: January 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th 2018

Attention all hikers!! Join the Barbados National Trust hikes every Sunday from January to December each year. There is a morning and afternoon hike each Sunday to choose from. The first begins at 6am and the second at 3:30pm.

The morning hikes consist of four grades of hikes: “Stop ‘n Stare” (c.6 miles) “1 Medium and a Fast Medium”(c.9 miles) “Grin ‘n Bear” (c.12 miles) In the afternoon, the morning’s “Stop ‘n Stare” route is repeated in one large group. Hikes last for 3 hours. Morning and afternoon hikes take place every Sunday EXCEPT on the Sunday of the Great Train Hike or unless indicated otherwise.

Special Moonlight Hikes during the week begin at 6pm and the regular Sunday Moonlight Hikes begin at 5:30 p.m. Make sure you have strong footwear and a hat and always take a bottle of water and a snack if you wish. Refreshments are usually on sale after the hikes. A torch/flashlight is needed for the Moonlight Hikes..

The Barbados Independent Film Festival will take place from 9th to 14th January, 2018. A fun-filled week of international and regional film screenings, celebrity appearances, filmmaker workshops, panel discussions and special events. Barbados National Trust Open House

It is an experience not be missed!

The Barbados National Trust Open House Season, definitely is a 'must do' on the Barbados' events calendar. It began in the 1960s, and continues in 2018 with a showcase of some of the island's' historically interesting and architecturally heritage. These open houses include some interesting commentry, narrated by some of Barbados’ most well-known historians and architectural gurus, the Open House Season 2018 will also feature live music, cultural performances by local schools, beautiful handmade Barbadian craft sold by artisans and many more enjoyable surprises!

Nidhe Israel Synagogue And Museum Tours


Date: January 15th, 2018

Visit the oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere and the adjacent Nidhe Israel Museum, which documents the fascinating story of the Barbados Jewish community while paying homage to its role in Barbadian heritage and society. At the museum, you can find a timeline chronicling the Jewish settlement, their role in the sugar cane industry, see historic artifacts and view interactive displays, which are designed to provide a more realistic and detailed experience.

Portvale Sugar Factory Tour

Get the inspiring tale of sugar cane production in British colonial Barbados during the 17th and 18th centuries when sugar was king and rum was queen. Learn more about this fascinating history at the Frank Huston Museum located at the Portvale Sugar Factory. Take a tour and see the antique machinery used to produce millions of tonnes of sugar, which helped to build the wealth of Barbados, and by extension Britain.

This tour lets you explore the factory, and witness sugar production in the 21st Century, and learn about the story of sugar, which is one of the core reasons for the Barbados Sugar and Rum Season. Enclosed shoes must be worn, and while no photos can be taken inside the factory, photo opportunities are available at the front.

Characters of Town Walking Tours

Radical Carnival 2018



Date: January 20th, 2018

The annual Radical Carnival race weekend will take place at Bushy Park Racing Circuit in St. Philip from 27th to 28th January, 2018.

This week long event starts with a welcome BBQ on the Monday and catamaran cruise on the Wednesday, with Tuesday and Thursday allocated for testing. A much-needed ‘rest day’ on Friday will precede the race weekend, with three races each day, as the visitors take part in the Suzuki Challenge Series SR3 Winter Cup. The event will also play host to the Swift Winter Cup, with a Prize-giving planned for the Bushy Park Cafeteria to round off the weekend, an occasion greatly enjoyed by the visitors last year.
