Scuba Diving Barbados Shipwrecks

by Alan
(London)

The sun, the sea, the people and scuba diving Barbados shipwrecks are the main reasons why I love vacationing in Barbados.

Over the years I’ve fallen so much in love with this small island paradise that it has become my home away from home.

My vacations on the island is centered around three things the Oistin’s weekend lime, going over to Bathsheba and scuba diving the wrecks around the island.

I’ve gone scuba diving at different times of the year and have found the conditions to be ideal almost all year.

I enjoy scuba diving the wrecks both on the south coast and on the west coast but my favorite dive is the SS Stavronikita sunk off Barbados popular west coast.

The Stavronikita is a 365 foot long freighter that was sunk in the 1970’s it lies over 100 feet below the surface.

You have to see it this wreck is very impressive as it is cover with a wide variety of colourful sponges and other marine life like snappers.

Seeing the skill with which this ship was sunk and the way the coral and other marine life have thrive around it over the last thirty years gives you a totally different perspective on life.
