Angry Annie’s Restaurant Barbados

by James and Liz
(United Kingdom)

On our first visit to Barbados back in 1992... we heard about Angry Annie’s Restaurant from some locals on the beach.

At that time this Barbados restaurant was located at Prospect in St. James... and we were guest of the Tamarind Cove Hotel located a short distance away at Paynes Bay.

I must tell you when we first heard the name Angry Annie’s it didn’t sound very appealing for a restaurant... But that evening we made the 5 minute drive south of our hotel to check it out for ourselves.

As a matter of fact at that time Angry Annie’s wasn’t a full fledge restaurant... but served some delicious spare ribs as part of a very limited menu.

We totally enjoyed the evening at this restaurant... since then we made a number of repeat visits to the island and we would always pop in to sample the spare ribs.

On our last visit in 2007 we were told that they had move to the very popular First Street, in the historic Holetown on the West coast...

Although we were staying on the South coast at the Hilton Barbados
we decided to make the 10 minute trip West of Bridgetown to check out the new restaurant.

What we found was a very colourful, cosy little restaurant tuck-away among the many restaurants on First Street... but what really please us were the additions to the menu.

The spare ribs are still there but now you can also get dishes with some exotic local names... like Shak Shak Shrimp, Bridgetown Chicken Curry, Pauline’s Spaghetti, Rasta Pasta, Enid’s Baxter’s Road Chicken and Fisherman’s Soup all mouth watering delicacies down with typically Barbados flare.

Of course we had the Jump Up Ribs with some local Banks beer... as usual it was a delightful evening at the best little restaurant on Barbados popular West Coast.

We highly recommend Angry Annie’s for dinner... good food, friendly staff and a very relax ambience make Angry Annie’s restaurant our favourite little restaurant in Barbados.

Make sure if your going to Barbados to get up/down to Holetown , you will enjoy whatever you eat at Angry Annies ,also make sure you get to Holetown on a Sunday evening when they have a street party type karaoke , dont be put off by the crowds everyone is only there for the fun . Also in Holetown is Ragamuffins also on Sunday they have entertainment of a different type dont miss it , maybe go there first then the street party karaoke ( next door ) after .
